The Story

Some years ago, whilst living and working in Southern Europe, I spotted something very interesting. Many of the locals seemed to be buying and drinking different wine to the ones being sold in their local supermarkets. Though the retailers had offers in store, there were no stripped shelves as is common in the UK! Further investgation was needed. I found that these local wines were sold in bulk boxes and were the same wines that were botttled and branded. They were not only cheaper,but tasted absolutely fantastic and even more importantly in my view, they didn't give one a thick head despite the fact that they were a full 13%! I have researched a large number of similar products and found only a few that that meet the criteria for import to the UK in this format both in Spain and Portugal. It then occured to me that as consumers we were deprived of good quality wine with consistent supply in the UK. It has to be in mind of course that duty and VAT are still significant costs here. Our Chapparel branded bag-in-box wine is proving to be a real winner with consumers and will be the cornerstone of future developments. For the on-trade we Import the full Daveiras range of RED, WHITE and ROSÉ. At the moment, On-trade orders are only accepted into West Yorkshire as these specialist products are only delivered free of charge in this area.
